Sensitives: Good or Bad
Defining (and defending) what it means to see dead people
Chapters: 1
What is a Sensitive?
In a nutshell, a sensitive is someone who has the ability to see beyond the normal layer of the world. Whether they are touch clairvoyant, can see the dead, or any of a myriad of other gifts, they experience life on a different level.
Isn’t it scary? Absolutely, it can be, especially the first few times it happens. After all, it can feel downright crazy to experience things others don’t. And if you grew up in a religious household, you’re often met with negative assumptions, like doing these things are ‘evil’, ‘demonic’ or ‘Satanic’.
It’s not. It just is.
Am I Sensitive?
In movies and tv shows, sensitive people tend to have some big reveal, like seeing their first dead person, a massive rush of premonition or understanding after touching someone or something. And while these things do happen in real life, for most of us, it started with small things.
For me, it was seeing shadows out of the corner of my eye, hearing a whisper when I was alone, or a deep chill dripping down my spine. But the more I paid attention, the more often these things happened until I saw my first dead person.
However, this ability is a spectrum. Some of us stay with those glimpses in their periphery. Some can see farther into the experience, pushing beyond just sight and sound to touch and sometimes physical danger. And some people can be catalysts for other sensitives’ awakening, as cheesy as that sounds.
But most are the first one.
So, if you are suddenly cold when no one else is, you see flashes of images when you touch things or people, or you see ghosts, you might be sensitive. This isn’t all inclusive, of course, but it’s a good start to discovery.
How Do Ghosts Know About Us?
My understanding has always been that sensitive people are like lighthouses, sending light in a thread or a flood into the muddied plane of limbo where ghosts are strongest. And they flock to us, to that light.
But this doesn’t always invite good energy. Worse, negative energy is great at pretending to be your friend. We’re going to talk a lot about this issue in future articles. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Demons are far rarer to experience than ghosthunters on TV claim
Say no to Ouija boards
Different kinds of dynamic ghost experiences
What to take with you when you ghost hunt & how not to bring anyone home with you
What to do if you’re a catalyst
And so much more!
Fakes and Charlatans Exist
Being gifted with sight is a neutral thing. What you do with it — helping vs. scamming — determines the person’s alignment.
Let’s be honest: Scammers are going to scam. Whether they have a gift or not. And their existence, sadly, well, exist everywhere. So, let’s break it down, shall we?
But They Know Things!
Do they, though?
We, as humans, are easy marks. People who pretend to be palm readers, fortune tellers and mediums, are really good at reading people. They see the little tells you give, those little nuances to your expressions you think you’re hiding. A pause before you answer a question, a slight brow rise or widening eye—all of these things can all be used against you.
So How Do I Tell?
Follow the money.
If they’re offering to lift a ‘curse’, cleanse you of a ‘bad spirit’, connect you to your dead loved ones, or any other ‘supernatural’ things you might ‘need’, and they need hundreds or thousands of dollars upfront or additional money because ‘it’s a really old/strong/deep’ whatever, run.
Those of us who are legit, well, we’re rarely rolling in mountains of moolah. What we do can be exhausting. but we want to help. Sometimes it’s altruistic, because we want to be good people. Sometimes, it’s the only way they dead stop yelling.
But oftentimes it’s a combination of both.
What About You?
The only time I’ve ever charged anyone for services was back in the day when I used to read tarot, and even then, it was a whole ten bucks. I have also cleared haunted houses, but I never charged anyone to do that. (And yes, I’ll be writing about that in the future!)
Honestly, though, I don’t tend to make what I can do a big deal. It’s not worth the questions or speculation. I help where I can, but given how many physical pain I’m in now, purposeful use is more exhausting now.

I will be posting a new chapter every Wednesday.
Unless I’m dead.
In which case, I’ll just ghostwrite it. 😉
