Army renames Louisiana base for Black WWI hero who received Medal of Honor

FORT JOHNSON, La. (AP) — A U.S. Army base in western Louisiana was renamed Tuesday to honor Sgt. William Henry Johnson, a Black hero of World War I who received the Medal of Honor nearly a century later.
Fort Johnson had previously been named after a Confederate commander, Leonidas Polk. The renaming is part of the U.S. military’s efforts to address historic racial injustice — work that included changing the names of nine Army posts that commemorated Confederate officers.

‘A true family dog’: Lost pup reunited with family at adoption event
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A lost dog was reunited with her family after they saw her at an adoption event in New York City.
In January, Mocha’s family went on faction for a week and left her with a friend. When they returned home, they learned the “devasting” news that their dog was missing.

Determined Students Make Prosthesis for Teacher’s Three-Legged Dog Who Lost Limb to Cancer
One day a group of high school students were making keychains in their 3D-printing class. The next? They were building a prosthetic leg for a teacher’s three-legged dog, Bentley.
“This was a very massive leap,” Brandon Hollis, a senior at Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina, who helped design the prosthesis told WCNC, a local NBC affiliate.
Early last year, Bentley, then 8, was diagnosed with cancer after a vet found soft tissue sarcoma in his right elbow. His owner, Ashley Liberto, who is also a middle math teacher at Providence, was faced with the decision to either put him down or amputate his leg — and she chose the latter.
